About this training
Article 8 Training is an online course for staff who work in Arizona Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) community residential settings. Article 8 is the part of the Arizona Administrative Code (Title 6, Chapter 6, Article 8) that sets the programmatic standards for these homes: how a residential provider must run the program to protect each member's health, safety, rights and quality of life.
It applies to settings such as habilitation (HAB) group homes, behavior-supported group homes and nursing-supported group homes. It does not cover licensed child developmental foster homes or adult developmental homes, which have their own rules.
How the course works
- Self-paced and fully online. Start when you are ready and work through the lessons at your own pace.
- 14 short video lessons with knowledge checks along the way, then a final assessment.
- About 2 hours in total.
- You have 3 months of access from the day you start.
- Pass the final assessment to earn your certificate, valid for one year. It is created automatically as soon as you pass and goes to the account that bought the course: yours, or your employer's if they bought your seat.
- Earns 2 Continued Education Hours (CEH).
Why Article 8 matters in a group home
DDD reviews residential providers against Article 8.
