Our Behavior Treatment Plan Writing Process
Below is the step by step process for how we go about writing and creating compliant, accurate, and effective behavior treatment plans.
Initiate Behavior Treatment Plan Writing Service
Once they are ready to proceed, clients can add the service to their cart and complete the secure checkout process using the available payment methods.
After successfully purchasing the service, they will receive a confirmation email with additional instructions. This email will include details on how to submit all necessary information about the member and their specific behavioral needs to begin drafting the Behavior Treatment Plan.
Initial Consultation and Understanding Client Needs
During this consultation, Hand N Hand Consulting reviews any available documentation, such as previous behavior plans, assessments, and incident reports, to gain a comprehensive understanding of the member's behavioral history.
Additionally, the discussion involves identifying and gathering input from key stakeholders, including parents, support coordinators, and healthcare providers, to ensure that the plan is aligned with the needs and perspectives of everyone involved in the member's care.
Define Target Behaviors
During this process, it is essential to describe these behaviors in observable and measurable terms, such as the frequency of outbursts or the duration of aggressive actions.
Additionally, the team works together to define the desired replacement behaviors or skills that can be taught, ensuring that the plan focuses not only on reducing negative behaviors but also on promoting positive alternatives.
Develop Behavior Interventions and Strategies
In addition, reactive strategies are designed for managing behaviors when they do occur, which may include de-escalation techniques and reinforcing positive behaviors. The plan also incorporates reinforcement strategies like positive reinforcement, token economies, or social reinforcers to encourage the development of replacement behaviors.
Where necessary, specialized techniques such as sensory integration or therapeutic interventions, recommended by professionals, are integrated to address specific behavioral needs.
Create the Behavior Treatment Plan (BTP) Document
These sections begin with member information, which details personal and developmental specifics, followed by a behavior description that clearly identifies the target behaviors. Behavior goals are then outlined, focusing on behavior reduction or skill acquisition. Intervention strategies are developed, including both proactive and reactive approaches, as well as reinforcement methods.
Data collection guidelines are provided to ensure consistent tracking of behavior frequency, duration, and triggers. A crisis plan is also included, offering step-by-step instructions for staff to follow if the behavior escalates to a critical level.
Lastly, staff responsibilities are clearly defined, ensuring all individuals involved in the plan's implementation understand their roles. Throughout the drafting process, it is essential that the BTP aligns with all state and agency requirements, particularly those set forth by the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) in Arizona.
Review and Collaborate with Stakeholders
During this meeting, feedback is gathered from the team, and necessary adjustments are made to ensure that the plan is both feasible and effective for implementation. It is also important to confirm that the plan is fully supported by all parties involved.
Additionally, wherever appropriate, the member’s voice and preferences are reflected in the plan to ensure it is person-centered and tailored to their needs.
Behavior Treatment Plan Submittal To The Program Review Committee (PRC)
After the BTP is finalized, the submission process begins by compiling all required documentation, including the member's Person-Centered Service Plan (PCSP), the most recent Medication Review document, and the behavior data tracking that has been collected over time.
It is essential to review the BTP form requirements—DDD-1984A, DDD-1986A, and DDD-1987A—ensuring that all sections are accurately completed. These forms are critical for aligning the BTP with the standards set by the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) in Arizona.
Careful attention is given to double-check that all relevant data, such as behavior frequency, intervention strategies, and medication information, is properly documented in the forms.
Once all components are reviewed and organized, the entire BTP package is submitted to the PRC, with all documents clearly labeled to facilitate a smooth review process.
Attend the Program Review Committee (PRC) Meeting
After the BTP is submitted to the PRC, the BTP author from Hand N Hand Consulting will accompany the client during the scheduled PRC meeting. The author will be available to address any questions posed by the committee regarding the plan’s intervention strategies and supporting documentation.
They will provide clarity on the data collected, such as behavior frequency, intervention details, and medication review, ensuring that the committee fully understands the objectives of the plan and its compliance with the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) requirements.
Additionally, the BTP author will collaborate with both the client and the committee to address any suggested modifications or improvements to the plan during the meeting. This process ensures the client feels fully supported and that the BTP is reviewed and approved efficiently.
Follow-Up and Adjustments Based on PRC Feedback
After the PRC meeting, Hand N Hand Consulting will carefully review the feedback or requests for changes provided by the committee.
The BTP author will collaborate with the client and other relevant stakeholders to make the necessary adjustments, ensuring all revisions align with the committee’s recommendations and comply with Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) standards.
Any required modifications to forms, such as DDD-1984A, DDD-1986A, or DDD-1987A, will be updated to ensure accurate and compliant information. Once all adjustments are made, the revised BTP will be resubmitted to the PRC for final review and approval.
Hand N Hand Consulting will maintain close communication with the client throughout this process, ensuring the plan is finalized and implemented as soon as it receives PRC approval.
