About this training
Our First Aid and CPR training is a hybrid (blended) course from the American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI). You learn the knowledge part online at your own pace, then come to an in-person skills session in Tempe, where a Hand N Hand instructor checks your CPR, AED and first aid skills hands on.
One price of $65 covers the ASHI online course, the in-person skills session and your ASHI certification card, valid for two years. ASHI certification is nationally accepted. It is built for caregivers, direct support professionals and agency staff in Arizona, and for anyone who needs First Aid and CPR for work.
What the course covers
- CPR for adults, children and infants: chest compressions and rescue breaths.
- AED use: pad placement and safe use of an automated external defibrillator.
- Choking relief: for adults, children and infants.
- Medical emergencies: heart attack, stroke, seizures and diabetic emergencies.
- Injuries: fractures, sprains, burns, cuts and scrapes.
- Environmental emergencies: heat stroke, hypothermia and poisoning.
- Bleeding control: direct pressure, pressure bandages and tourniquets.
How it works
- Choose your skills date when you register. Registration for a session closes 2 business days before it.
- Watch for an email from HSI, the company behind ASHI, with your online course link. It arrives within one business day.
- Finish the ASHI online course at home, at your own pace.
- Upload your ASHI completion certificate (the PDF from the online course) to your Hand N Hand account before your skills session. We send reminders 7 days and 1 day before.
- Attend your skills session. Your instructor watches you perform each skill and checks it off.
- Get your card. Your ASHI certification card is added to the account that bought the seat the same day you pass the skills check: yours, or your employer's if they booked you.
The course takes about 5 hours in total, online and in person.

- Each seat is for one named person. It can't be moved to someone else.
- Once you are enrolled in the ASHI online course, the purchase can't be refunded or credited.

Common questions
Where can I get CPR certified in Tempe?
At our Tempe Training Center, 1840 E Baseline Rd Ste A3, Tempe. You take the ASHI online course at home first, then come in for a hands-on skills session with a Hand N Hand instructor.
Can I get CPR certified completely online?
Not with this course. Online-only CPR courses have no hands-on check, and many employers do not accept them. You learn the knowledge part online, then show your CPR, AED and first aid skills in person.
Can I take CPR only, or just the skills test?
No. Every seat includes the ASHI online course, the in-person skills session and your ASHI certification card, for one price of $65.
How long does the First Aid and CPR course take?
About 5 hours in total, online and in person. You do the online part at home, at your own pace, before your skills session.
How long is a CPR certification valid?
Your ASHI First Aid and CPR card is valid for two years. ASHI certification is nationally accepted.
Can my agency book CPR certification for several employees?
Yes. An agency can book a skills date for each employee in one checkout and see their cards.
